There are numerous activities that can be explored specially for the blind. Recreational pursuits are just as important and fulfilling for the visually impaired as they are for those with sight. The blind are able to enjoy creating art, the Internet, sculpting, woodworking, sports and more. There have been notable achievements for the blind including that of Erik Weihenmeyer. In 2001, he was the first blind person to climb Mt. Everest. This is something many people with full sight cannot accomplish.

When you visit your optometrist or ophthalmologist to be fitted for contact lenses, the doctor or staff will show you how it is done, help you practice, and give you written instructions. Be sure to listen carefully to everything they say. They have great tips for you. The instructions you receive may differ somewhat from what is presented here, but this will give you the idea of how lenses are inserted and removed.
