I moved into my new old house last year; new because I had never lived in it before and old because the original construction dated back about six decades. I love the character and charm of my older home, but what I didn’t like was the way bugs could get into my house all spring and summer long because the screening material on the windows had sadly deteriorated.
I needed replacement window screens in the worst way, but one trip to the local home improvement store proved that this task was much easier said than done. I spent some time staring at the display of these supplies, but somehow the time I spent didn’t make it any simpler to choose and purchase all of the equipment that I would need to put a new face on my home.

So, I’m like the rest of you. I was raised knowing that homes needed to be built right and craftsmanship was important. Several years ago, my wife and I built our own home and were so disappointed. The contractors took forever to decide upon anything, the process took over a year because of a particularly long rainy season, and the house had some flaws that we had no idea how to fix. It was nice to have our own home, but it was such a disappointment to see all of the problems. So, after a few years, we decided to sell our house and try again. This time, we read the article “New and Modern Modular Home Construction” and were blown away. We would have never even considered a California modular home before our attempted “ideal home” was built. But after reading the article, we saw all of the problems our home had and all of the ways those same problems are prevented with a modular home. Now, we live in a beautiful modular, and no one can even tell it’s a manufactured home. It fits us perfectly and the whole process only took a few months!

I love to read and buy books whenever I can. But they do have to be stored somewhere so I have had to buy several bookcases. Rugs are my thing. I could spend hours looking through carpet, rugs and mat shops. This week I need  a runner for my hallway. Not one of those people you need when you get injured at cricket. The one you put in the hallway to stop the wood getting scratched and to stop the furniture from scratching the floor. I won’t mention the place I found in Bibra Lake in Perth WA. It was a rug warehouse. They had absolutely everything. I was in floor covering heaven. My wife is different to most women, in that she doesn’t like shopping, consequently I didn’t spend as long as I would like to in the store.
