It is possible to setup one of your routers as a wireless range repeater to expand the coverage of your wifi signal. In order to do this some routers have options like client, bridge, or repeater modes. A router that is in client mode gets it Internet connection from a wireless connection with another router call the host router. The client router then shares this Internet access only on its LAN jacks. This would make sense because the router is just a wireless client of the host and you don’t want it to be a host to other wireless devices. The client mode router is on a separate subnet. That means that it has it own DHCP server and gives out IP numbers, DNS server, etc to the devices connected to its LAN ports. Note also that computers on the client subnet can’t directly connect up with computers on the wireless network, so you have to enable port forwarding.

There’s something really cool about the whirring of the shutter on a high quality digital camera; it’s great weather once again, everyone’s out snapping away to their heart’s content, and each time you hear that shutter snap and hope for a great picture, it’s a great way to spend summer’s day. And the camera makers are falling over themselves to give you great user-friendly (not to mention pretty-looking) products to tempt you into photography with. And how great is it when they bring newer features in each year and even make them affordable? The best of what I like this year are cameras that go underwater without compromising any on picture quality, and ones that will shoot hi-def video like a dedicated camcorder and even free up the zoom for use during a video shoot. If you need one now, this is about the best time it’s ever been to go out buying digital cameras.

Let’s start with the cheerfully mid-priced models. I put my money on the Lumix DMC-Z7 that goes for $300 at most online retailers’ websites. I love Lumix for the way they make bulletproof cameras that are still affordable and fully featured. This little beauty has a 12x zoom, and it has this new killer feature for the new social media in-thing called Location Sharing. You take a picture, and the inbuilt GPS in the camera will print on a corner of the picture, numbers for your exact coordinates. Certainly it has a killer zoom, but that’s hardly anything worth aany buzz these days. For a camera to appear quite accomplished now, you need a wide-angle lens; and the Z7 doesn’t disappoint – with a great 25mm model for great panoramas and landscape pictures. If this doesn’t seem cheap enough for a certain discriminating section of the market that demands cool on the budget, as college students and teenagers do, try the Nikon CoolPix L22, a smart little number that is simple and quick to use, has a basic zoom and wide-angle lens, has powerful image stabilization (presumably for drunken frat parties), and auto everything. You know that it’s great for the college market when you look at how simple it is to upload pictures on Facebook with this device. Anyone who was a part of a spring break trip in Miami could possibly consider buying digital cameras of the new rugged variety that they make today. How about picking up a Pentax Optio W90 for about $250? To begin with, this is a rugged, rugged camera that really won’t complain when you drop it – into a pool. What is more, the video resolution is full HD – although you’ll need a special external microphone for sound. It’s a digital SLR, and it’s a worthy contender. As I said, it’s a great season to consider buying digital cameras. The prices are low, and the technology levels are where they need to be.

I’m not what you’d call the most “tech savvy” person, but when my husband recommended the iPad to me, I couldn’t resist. I bought one just a few days after it came, and fell in love with it. I could easily email my friends, browse Face book, and look at photos of the kids. I was mainly captivated though by the eBook reading capabilities of the iPad. I believed that with my new iPad, I would never have to read a real paper book again. Then I discovered how much it would cost me for each and every book from the iBookstore. My high hopes of having an entire library of books on my iPad crumbled.

I figured there had to be an easier, cheaper way. After searching on Yahoo Answers, I discovered positive reviews from other iPad users who had tried this site called my PadMedia and had loved it. The site promised unlimited lifetime access allowing members to download thousands of books, comic books, newspapers and more, all directly to the Apple iPad. I gave it a shot, and signed up.

I was very impressed! Within minutes of becoming a member, I was able to download the entire Twilight series to my iPad. Photography magazines first spied the Samsung TL500 in the Photography Marketing Association trade show in Anaheim earlier this year. Since then, it’s become the top seller on Amazon and B&H, and the many qualities of this model intrigued me, photography lover that I am. I have been using one for over a month now, composing shots and shooting everything that comes before me, and I have to admit that experience has been quite special. Let me get in deeper and try to explain why this Samsung digital camera is a winner.

The asking price for the TL 500 is $410 at Amazon and other major online retailers. Anyone who pays attention to camera specs, will recognize that this Samsung digital camera uses the exact same size of sensor – 1/1.7 – as Canon’s well-respected S90, and the same minimum aperture size of 2.0 too. What this means for me is, that I’ll never have to worry about low light photography ever again. And I especially like the way the lens is an ultra-wide 24mm.

Who would believe that the TL 500’s maximum aperture size was a ludicrous F/1.8? That’s the widest aperture I’ve ever seen on a compact camera. Everything about this little winner, the sensor size, the aperture size, the focal length of the stock lens, the ISO 3200 sensitivity of the sensor – is completely focused on low light photography and professional quality effects like blurred backgrounds. It’s been a while since I’ve seen everything in a camera thrown together in exactly the right way for low lightphotography.

One of the problems with close-up lowlight photography is the way camera shake can really creep in, no matter how steady you hold it. I happen to like the image stabilization technology on some of the better Samsung digital camera models, and this one is no exception. Samsung is a world leader in imaging technology with its large flat screens and laser printing solutions; and Samsung pulls off another great demonstration of its imaging chops here in not just the quality of its stability and its shots but also in the way you get to compose and frame your pictures on the huge bright, AMOLED display. And I especially like the flexibility in screen positioning they give you – with swivel and tilt. The TL500 brings you the full complement of enthusiast options in setting aperture priority, shutter priority and all kinds of shooting modes.

If you have your heart set on this Samsung digital camera, but can’t quite scratch the asking price together, there is hope at hand in the form of the baby of the line, the TL350. This one is no slouch either – it has fast startup, a 10-shot-a-second burst mode, and it can capture full high definition 30 FPS video. It has the same 24 mm lens, and AMOLED display as well, and it goes for hundred dollars less.

And then there is the AQ100, a curious piece of equipment for today’s world. An interest in underwater photography is awfully popular these days, and at less than $200, this Samsung digital camera is squarely aimed at this growing market. It is a great zoom built right into the body, and one of its preset modes includes an underwater setting for pictures in those specialized low light settings. It’s priced low enough to just let you make it part of a complete photography collection, and that’s particularly attractive as far as I’m concerned.

It’s a cold hard fact that most of us when we start getting into our late 40’s begin to experience problems never before experienced. Panasonic has released slew of new camcorders with new and better features to meet everyone’s budget needs. The Panasonic HDC-SD60 features a larger, 1/4.1-inch CMOS sensor, and it includes a 25x optical zoom lens (up from 16x on last year’s models). Although it uses the less than optimum Panasonic lens you get focus is auto and manual, as is the white balance. There is backlight compensation for the LCD monitor, which is 2.7 inches in width.

The higher model Panasonic HDC-HS700 comes with the premium Leica lens and superb cutting edge features. It comes with a 240GB HDD that stores about 20 hours of video at the highest resolution. HD images, which are captured at 1080p/60 frames per second, can also be stored on optional SD/SDHC/SDXC cards. The improved Power O.I.S. Denon has just announced that they will be releasing two brand new bluray disc players that will be 3D ready. New firmware updates coming in the fall will make them fully 3D capable.

The basic model Denon DBP-1611UD is priced at sensibly at $399 which is surely going to capture a large pie of the 3D market. The higher model Denon DBP-2011UDCI is more serious in capturing the high end market with better video processing chips from Anchor Bay and top end Burr Brown 32bit/192kHz DACs.
