Sapa - An Attractive Destination

Sapa means sand site in dialect language as in the past it was a sand lot for local people to make a market. Sapa was then further popular when French arrived at this land in early 19th century. As the first, railway was completed in 1920; a number of guesthouses, villas, hydropower plant, forest management, governor’s palace, legation, treasure, etc were built up and in 1940 French people made planning for sapa as a holiday center with more than 200 villas inserted among peach forestland same line sand at that time, Sapa looked like a European city.
