Nikon Coolpix S560 review and ratings
In many ways the Nikon Coolpix S560 is a typical pocket camera. It takes a decent snapshot, has 10 megapixels and is available in black, silver and pink (or cherry blossom to be completely accurate). The 5x optical zoom lens is a little longer than standard. The lens is supported by image stabilisation in an effort to sharpen up any pictures that may be otherwise blighted by camera shake.
As with other Nikon digital cameras there are one or two features that you may struggle to find elsewhere. To start with the Coolpix S560 is able to take square photos. This can be great for giving your portrait shots a lift. On top of this the Coolpix S560 is able to take time lapse movies. There is also a smile shutter to fire off photos when someone is smiling, automatic red eye fix, D lighting to brighten darker pictures and the ability to use the camera as a voice recorder. The LCD screen is a good sized 2.7 inches.
The Fuji Finepix F100fd has a couple of extra megapixels and the same length of lens. If picture quality is very important to you then I would say the Finepix F100fd has an edge over the Coolpix S560.
Rating: Average
Summary: My Average rating may be a little bit harsh. The Nikon Coolpix S560 takes a decent snapshot, but the fact that it has to be 10cm away from the subject to take a macro shot is a weakness if you are planning to take many close up shots. The darkness creeping into the corners of wide angle shots is also more noticeable than it is with some other similar models. These problems mean that when it comes to picture quality this camera just slips below one or two other models.
