Great Wrestling Action Figures
Wrestling has gone through periods of extreme popularity and extreme “nobody cares.” Currently it’s experiencing an enormous thrust in popularity with wrestling action figures of the most popular wrestlers also being very popular.
Wrestling, or “rassling” as it used to be called started many decades ago and was very popular in the 1950s and 1960s with great wrestlers like The Crusher, Mad Dog Vachon, Dick the Bruiser, Fritz Von Erich and Verne Gagne, to name a few. I remember as a young boy going with my dad to the Civic Auditorium in our hometown to watch some of these wrestlers.
Then wrestling fell on hard times. But in the 1980s it started making a comeback. Leading the way was Andre the Giant, but who really helped bring wrestling to the peak it enjoys today were a promoter and a wrestler, those men being Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan, respectively.
Then more big names started coming on the scene: Brett “The Hitman” Hart, Shawn Michaels, Sting, The Road Warriors, The Million Dollar Man, Mr. Perfect, well, I could go on and one…. Since wrestling was becoming a big-time sport the wrestlers also became big-time with large, muscular bodies and character roles that they play.
Today, wrestling is a billion dollar business and part of that money come from the wrestler’s action figures. Your children can now own one of these toys that looks like their favorite wrestler.
