Canon Powershot SX200 IS review and ratings
The Canon Powershot SX200 IS offers the power of a 12x optical zoom lens in a smaller body. You will find it difficult to fit the Powershot SX200 IS into a pocket, but it is still much smaller than a lot of the super zoom cameras you find on the market. This is a 12 megapixel digital camera.
The lens offers plenty of scope for your photography. Not only does it have the obvious telephoto capabilities, but it also has a minimum focal length of 28mm making it a wide angle lens. This is great for capturing wide scenes such as groups of people or landscapes. You can also use it for taking interior pictures.
Canon has built image stabilisation into the lens. This helps to keep photos sharp as it combats camera shake. On the back of the camera is a 3 inch LCD screen. There is no viewfinder. Another feature that may be of interest is the High Definition movie mode. Although the Powershot SX200 IS is not exactly a replacement for a multi featured camcorder it can be handy to have a stills camera that can fire off the occasional movie. Manual exposure modes are available too.
You could also look at the
Samsung WB500. This is another digital camera offering extra lens power in a more compact body.
Rating: Above Average
Summary: The Canon Powershot SX200 IS is another excellent camera from Canon. There are plenty of features to get your teeth into and this camera takes very good photos.
