All Leather Boat Shoes
Looking down at my favourite leather boat shoes I have often wondered about the origins of the shoe and who would have thought of making such a comfortable practical deck shoe. After a little research, I have found that credit must be given to the Native Americans who were the original designers of this type of footwear that they called “moccasinsâ€.
Over time the shoe took on a new look, and at first it was designed with sailors in mind as practical footwear aboard slippery wet decks but it wasn’t long before the leather boat shoes became a stylish popular choice in shoes for the wealthy who could be seen wearing them on the decks of their yachts. Fashion writers have classified the shoes as a cross between casual and formal.
Boat or sometimes they are called deck shoes are worn by people who have no intention of going boating; they just fall for the shoes due to the stylish good looks but above all how comfortable they are. Either worn with or without socks many people still wonder what the proper protocol is for wearing boat shoes. The shoes are not really designed for business wear; loafers really should be the shoe of choice for this. Boat shoes are more for a casual sporty look that can be worn with jeans, shorts or casual chino pants.
