Pentax Optio E50 review and ratings
Oh dear! I wasn’t expecting great things from the Pentax Optio E50, but I was surprised at the lack of quality there was in my test pictures. This is one of the cheapest digital cameras I have tested. Even so when compared to cameras that cost that little bit more I would say the picture quality here quite poor. Therefore despite the low price I cannot really say that this camera offers good value for money.
It was not all bad though and shutter delay times were surprisingly good with the Optio E50 scoring faster times than many of its more expensive rivals. Even with the flash unit turned on response times were still good.
The camera also scores highly when it comes to ease of use. It is true that one of the reasons for this is that the camera has a more basic set of features, placing it fairly and squarely in the ranks of starter cameras.
A much better bet is the
Olympus FE-360. Picture quality with this camera is a clear step up, plus build quality is superior too. A bonus with the FE-360 is that it will fit into a pocket.
Rating: Below Average
As I stated at the top I wasn’t expecting perfection from such a cheap digital camera. I was surprised though by the lack of overall quality in the photos and I cannot recommend the Optio E50.
