Panasonic DMC FX37 review and ratings
The Panasonic DMC FX37 is a stylish digital camera that will slip into a pocket. It is available in black, silver and blue. Standout features include a 25mm wide angle lens, 5x optical zoom, HD movies, extra zoom and image stabilisation.
The wide angle lens makes the DMC FX37 a good choice if you take photographs where you look to squeeze a great deal of width into the scene. This could be landscapes, interiors or groups of people.
Many buyers will also be interested in the HD movie mode. In order to play back HD quality movies on an HD television you need to pick up a special cable.
When testing the DMC FX37 I felt it did not match up to the quality I am used to seeing from other Panasonic cameras. In fact I think when it comes to picture quality this is a step backwards from the previous model in this series the Panasonic DMC FX35.
I reran some of my tests at a lower resolution, swapping the 10 megapixels for 5 megapixels. This improved the picture quality back to the level I had expected before I started testing. This would suggest that the root of the problem is that Panasonic have attempted to squeeze too many pixels onto the sensor.
Another camera with a wide angle lens is the Canon IXUS 870 IS. I prefer the picture quality of the IXUS 870 IS.

The Panasonic DMC FX37 has a lot going for it when it comes to features. The camera is let down though by the picture quality. It is not terrible, but a noticeable step down from what I am used to seeing from Panasonic.
