Global Positioning System
Global positioning systems have innovated the way we live, making life more convenient and efficient especially for those who are always on the go and needs to be in control of things. When people speak of GPS or Global Positioning System, they usually refer to GPS receiver since GPS is not a gadget but a constellation of 27 Earth-orbiting satellites developed by the U.S. military as a navigation system. There are actually 24 satellites in operation with three extras in case of emergency failures. It was first implemented solely for military purposes but was later opened to the public and the world in general.
