Fuji Finepix J150W review and ratings
Looking at the Fuji Finepix J150w reminds me just how far digital cameras have evolved over the past 18 months when it comes to looks and build quality. Going back that short space of time an entry level digital camera like this one would have been much larger in size and the had an unmistakable feel of plastic. Fast forward back to the present time and you will see the Finepix J150w is quite a sleek camera. It will fit into larger pockets without a problem and the build quality feels far superior to similar priced cameras from 18 moths ago.
Other improvements include a 3 inch LCD screen and the introduction of a 5x wide angle lens. The larger screen makes it much easier to compose photos and to read through the menu options. The lens is not only longer than what was the standard 3x zoom lens, but it was much rarer to find cheaper cameras with wide angle capabilities.
When looking for cameras to compare to the Finepix J150w it is not easy to find other budget cameras with a wide angle lens and the extra zoom. Although the
Olympus FE-360 does not offer these two features it does offer better all round picture quality than the Finepix J150w.
Rating: Average
Perhaps the inclusion of a wide angle lens was a step too far. Picture quality is good enough for small snapshots, but I would not suggest pushing print sizes much larger than that.
