Canon Powershot A2000 IS review and ratings
The majority of digital cameras are either very basic, ultra compact and slip easily into a pocket or have extra long lenses. The Canon Powershot A2000 IS offers something a bit different.
When it comes to picture quality you get more bang for your buck than with most digital cameras. This is likely to be partially down to the fact that Canon can use a larger sized lens with this camera than it can with its smaller pocket cameras.
The Powershot A2000 IS has plenty of megapixels (10) and a 6x optical zoom lens. The lens gives you twice as much zoom power than the more common 3x optical zoom lenses. Image stabilisation has been built into the lens to give you a little extra help when it comes to camera shake. The inclusion of image stabilisation should lead to sharper pictures.
Aside from the most basic models Canon Powershot cameras have historically come with a viewfinder. With this new model the viewfinder has been dispensed with in favour of a larger, 3 inch LCD screen.
It is not that easy to come up with similar cameras to compare this one against. Outside of the Canon range you could look at a camera like the Ricoh R8.

Summary: I am very happy with the test photos I captured with the Canon Powershot A2000 IS. They are above average. If you are looking for a camera that may not be the most stylish camera on the block, but takes a good photo at a reasonable price then take a good look at this camera.
