Canon Powershot A1000 IS review and ratings
The Canon Powershot A1000 IS is a step up from the most basic digital cameras. Although it is still point and shoot camera you will also find features such as a viewfinder and image stabilisation. It has 10 megapixels and a 4x optical zoom lens.
It is not the most stylish camera you are likely to find, but it looks good enough in its two tone body. It comes in four colours: brown, purple, blue and grey.
Most of the key controls can be set by using one of the many buttons on the back of the camera. There is also a control dial on the top. This helps to make changing the main settings quick and easy.
At the same time as introducing this camera, Canon also introduced the
Canon Powershot A2000. These two cameras are more or less identical when it comes to specifications. The most significant difference between the two cameras is that the Powershot A2000 IS has a longer 6x zoom lens. This helps to get you in that bit closer.
Rating: Above Average
Summary: The Canon Powershot A1000 IS fills its own little niche along with a small number of other cameras. Picture quality is good without being quite top drawer and the cameras is flexible enough in terms of focusing and other options to be versatile in terms of the photo opportunities it can cope with.
