Here are some shopping tips for buying the best headphones for your needs.
Becoming familiar with the terms earbuds, canal phones, supra-aural, circumaural and canal phones will help you shop more easily for headphones.

Circumaural headphones, which are common today, have large pads that fit each ear.  The large and bulky headphones are thought to be the most comfortable by many.  Recording studios use these headphones since they are great for blocking out surrounding ambient noise.

Supra-aural headphones with little pads that go over the ears and are smaller.  These give you good sound, but don’t eliminate all external noise.
