Diabetics should refrain from consuming the saturated types of fats that are part of animal foods These include full cream milk, cheese butter and ice cream Also avoid palm and coconut oils, processed meats and fast foods Eat only limited quantities of unsaturated fats These include olive, canola and sunflower oils, mono or polyunsaturated margarines, and oily fish, and nuts
Baked items such as biscuits or cakes and should be eaten only rarely and in small quantities.
